Haines and Hinterding sound installation 'Broadcast live from the Ionosphere: Sunvalleyradio' broadcast from Beijing Shanghai Library November 2010 until February 2012 The exhibition Light from Light a touring exhibition of Australian and Chinese contemporary artworks has toured from the National Library of China, the National Art Museum of China and the Shanghai Library, ?Light from Light? and now makes its final stop in China at the Hangzhou Public Library. Broadcast from the Ionosphere: Sunvalleyradio is an installation comprising multiple representations of the sun. The artists present a live antenna feed and field recordings. As a departure from our everyday experience of seeing and feeling the sun, we can now hear it. The curious crackles and pops that are broadcast are in fact the sounds of solar winds interacting with the earth’s atmosphere.
