![]() Kate Murphy, Dear Kate ... a probable portrait, 2011, single-channel HD video installation, stereo sound, 6:04 minutes In Kate Murphy's latest video self-portrait, we see her performing a series of handstands, symbolising the ubiquitous figure used when presenting statistical information. Murphy's work references common fears that society has surrounding health, career, relationships and particularly mortality and dying alone. Relating these to her own anxieties, Murphy invited a statistician to analyse the probability of these events occurring in her life. The University of Queensland's National Artists' Self-Portrait Prize 2011, will be held at UQ Art Museum, Brisbane. Curated by Alison Kubler Artist Profile
