Our Team

Sally Breen, Director
Sally holds an established position in contemporary art. For over a decade Sally worked as an independent curator and has held senior positions with leading contemporary arts centres including Artspace Visual Arts Centre, Sydney and Performance Space @ Carriageworks, Sydney. She has curated numerous exhibitions including Primary Producers: Sean Cordeiro and Claire Healy (Performance Space 2007); Its A New Day (Artspace 2006); Fighting Song: Hannah Furmage & Wade Marynowsky (Artspace 2006); Gift, new art from the Netherlands: Jennifer Tee & Jonas Ohlsson (Artspace 2005); Ten[d]ancy: Shaun Gladwell, Sean Corderio, Claire Healy, Gary Carsley, Jonathan Jones, Hannah Furmage, Martin Blum & Simone Fuchs (Elizabeth Bay House, 2006).

Anthony Whelan, Associate Director
Anthony comes to BREENSPACE after more than seven years at Sherman Galleries, subsequently Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, where he was Curator and Executive Assistant to the Director. Prior to this he was a Founding Director of the artist-run-initiative Rubyayre Gallery (1999-2001) and has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) UNSW.

Frances Barrett, Gallery Co-ordinator
Fran comes to the role of Gallery Co-ordinator having completed an Art History and Theory Degree at COFA, UNSW and a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) at UNSW. Fran is a practicing artist with particular interests in performance and feminist theory. She is a member of the artistic collaboration, Brown Council who produces both performance and video installation.
